Thirty protected birds have been poisoned already in the Bükki National Park

More and more birds of prey succumb to poisons. All the cases have occurred within a certain area, thus deliberate cause is highly probable.

Altogether, thirty raptors have died in the Bükki National Park in the first half of this year. Nine Imperial Eagles, 17 Common Buzzards, three Ravens and one Marsh Harrier have been discovered. The Eastern Imperial Eagle is strictly protected and carries a nature conservation value of one million forints. The majority of the cases happened in South-Heves, in the area of Tarnabod and Visznek.

Birds of prey may affect farmers’ interests.

Toxicological examinations detected a pesticide, which was banned two years ago. The Bükki National Park prosecuted against unknown persons in each case.
