Colour Ringing
The first time in Hungary nestlings were marked with colour rings in 2002. The plastic rings used in 2002 had a yellow base-colour with a black alphanumerical code on them consisting of a letter and a one-digit number in horizontal position.

Codes of the rings put on youngsters in 2002 are the following:

A0, A1,... – A9; B0 – B9; C0 – C9

In 2003 we did not manage to acquire the same ring type as in 2002, so we went a simpler way, only in North-Eastern Hungary. The ringed chicks received a white aluminium ring without any code on it. Chicks from mountain nests received the white ring on their left leg, chicks from lowland nests on the right leg.

In each case also a traditional aluminium ring was put on the chicks, on the other leg of course.
